What WE Did This Summer
Account Executive, HomeGrown PR August 2013- December 2013
HomeGrown PR was established as part of a Public Relations Campaigns course at The University of Alabama. The class partnered with United Cerebral Palsy of West Alabama (UCPWA) to create a short- and long-term campaign plan.
• Organized and lead a team of five to create an annual fundraising event to engage the community
• Generated a forty percent increase of awareness of UCPWA within Tuscaloosa County
• Created a consistent volunteer base for UCPWA in Tuscaloosa County
• Reached over 2,000 views through social media
Samsung College Brand Ambassador, Mosaic October 2013
A two-week blitz campaign on-campus to promote new Samsung products to students.
• One of nine UA students chosen to represent Samsung
• Generated student interest in Samsung products and the Samsung event
• Used #GalaxyCampus on social media to reach students and encourage online engagement with Samsung Mobile US
Public Relations Intern at Pinkston Group May 2013-July 2013
A summer internship for a DC area PR firm providing individualized solutions for clients in a wide range of industries.
• Booked shows for New York Times bestselling author on major radio networks
• Managed VIP list for launch of hotel headquarters and worked with hotel headquarters to garner media coverage
• Monitored social media for healthcare clients and generated social media content for authors
PRSSA Bateman Case Study Competition November 2012-May 2013
A national case study competition where you apply your classroom education and internship experiences to create and implement a full public relations campaign
• One of five students selected from the university to research, plan, implement and evaluate a full communications campaign in local middle schools
• Coordinated primary and secondary research and acted as local school Account Executive
• Garnered media coverage on nine radio stations
• Reached 1.3 million people with a publicity value of more than $60,000 and positively influenced over 2,000 students
• Received honorable mention for the competition
UAPRSSA Director of Web-Based Communications June 2013-December 2013
UAPRSSA is the PRSSA chapter affiliated with The University of Alabama, which provides opportunities for students to network and learn about the profession prior to graduating.
• Updated website to inform students of upcoming and past events, speakers, blog articles and UAPRSSA news
• Provided students with monthly advice from professionals and recaps of meetings
• Worked with the social media team to maintain a solid online identity and create a greater web presence
UAPRSSA Newsletter Committee- September 2012-December 2013
Monthly E-newsletter distributed to members and faculty of UAPRSSA.
• Wrote monthly articles for Capstone Agency section, an integrated communications firm affiliated with UAPRSSA
Digital Director, Capstone Agency August 2012-December 2013
A student-run integrated communications firm comprised of top students at The University of Alabama, whose goal is to create innovate and effective campaigns.
• Manage all social media, Capstone Agency website and clients’ websites
• Promoted event #GetShaq2UA to get Shaquille O’Neal to film PSA against binge drinking
• Created media lists and social media plan for Shaq PSA viewing during BCS National Championship 2013 which reached 80,000+ people
• Applied for numerous awards including ADDYs, Medallions- Capstone Agency won several ADDYs and Medallions
• Organized Rising Tide Tailgates on gameday for 600+ people
• Created Social Media Promotional Campaign for PR Day in the College of Communication and Information Sciences

An anti-binge drinking campaign, created to address the national problem of college-aged binge drinking.
• Managed online accounts and social media for LTUT
• Launched PSA starring Shaquille O’Neal for LTUTUA
• Launched LTUT nationally in Orange County, Calif.
UA Study Abroad Public Relations Intern August 2012-May 2013
Marketing toward the Greek community, one third of the UA population, to increase participation by leading public speaking engagements and engaging them in International Education Week, a week dedicated to raising awareness of foreign cultures.
• Created spring marketing campaign to encourage all students to study abroad through use of clever phrases in popular locations on campus
• Hosted information sessions for groups of three to seven students each week
• Worked tables at study abroad fairs and ensured all affiliate programs were checked in and set-up
